To help you prepare for your upcoming senior shoot, I wanted to share my checklist with you of what to bring! Your senior year only comes around once. Why not capture this moment in time — the moment right before you graduate college and head into the world to do big things — with photos that highlight every ounce of your one-of-a-kind confidence and beauty!
Outfits
First and foremost your cap and gown and always a must! We will take some photos of you with both your cap and gown, in other photos we will do one over the other. Having both your cap and gown will add variety to your final gallery. In addition, to your cap and gown, you will want to bring your cords or stole if you have one. You worked really hard in school let’s be sure to show off all your achievements!
In terms of your outfits, you want to pick something you feel confident in for your senior shoot! A very popular choice is a white spring dress with a fun pair of heels. Last year my senior Stephanie had a second pair of shoes. They were pink heels because that was her favorite color, and she wanted that in her photos! Having a dress similar to the white spring dress, also really puts the focus on you, bold colors or patterns can be distracting. Let’s make sure the focus is on you! You also have the option to add a second outfit, in the past seniors have opted for a more causal look, showing off their style even more!
Bring the Squad
This could be your friends or your family! Your support system is so proud of you and I love when you bring them along for your senior shoot! I will set aside time at the end of your session for them to join us. This way you are all warmed up and a star in front of the camera!
This also includes your significant other! I know they may tell you they don’t like having their picture taken, but I can guarantee they will have fun, and it’s way better than an iPhone selfie!
Pets
The answer is yes, you can always bring your pets!! I am a HUGE animal lover and love when seniors bring their pets. I have met several dogs and they are the cutest! I also believe having these photos years down the line is such a precious memory!
Let’s Pop Bottles
There is no better way to end a session than shaking up a bottle of champagne! They make for some of the most fun photos too. I always suggest bringing two bottles of champagne, in case one doesn’t work out. Pro tip! You do not need to buy a very expensive bottle of champagne, the less expensive brands have more carbonation making for better photos!
