Downtown Albany, NY is full of rich history and ornate architecture, making it an ideal location for an engagement session. In the heart of downtown Albany is the Empire State Plaza, where I met Kiera and Matt for their engagement session at the majestic New York State Capitol building.

The New York State Capitol

In downtown Albany NY we were looking for a unique indoor location for an engagement session. The New York State Capitol was an ideal location, known for its 19th-century architectural grandeur that was under the direction of five different architects. One of which was the most notable locations in the Capitol building is commonly referred to as “the million-dollar staircase.” The staircase’s construction was hand-built and completed in 1897. The staircase is an architectural masterpiece filled with intricate stone carvings, sweeping arches, and glowing lanterns that cast a warm, golden light throughout the space. As you ascend, the steps lead to a skylight set within a greenhouse-like structure on the Capitol roof, allowing for soft diffused light to pour in, and an atmosphere that is perfect for a downtown Albany, NY engagement session.

Million Dollar Staircase

Kiera and Matt are planning a destination wedding and wanted their engagement session in downtown Albany NY to feel truly special, a location that captures the perfect balance of grandeur and intimacy. While setting their engagement session apart from the crowd. The iconic Million Dollar Staircase inside the New York State Capitol to the stone steps and archways in front of the Capitol, downtown Albany, was a must for their session, offering an extraordinary setting filled with historic beauty and architectural detail.

Downtown Albany, NY, with its historic surroundings, made Kiera & Matt’s engagement session felt both timeless and cinematic. While the setting added a sense of scale and old world elegance, the focus remained on Kiera and Matt, their connection, and the story they are just beginning together.
