The Mount is one of my favorite locations for an engagement session. From the moment you arrive, you can sense how unique of an estate The Mount is before you see it. It’s a historic site and was the home of Edith Wharton, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author known for her over 40 books and love of design and architecture. This love is reflected in the Italian-inspired architecture and the expansive gardens surrounding the mansion she designed at the heart of the property.

During Jennifer and Matt’s engagement session, we explored the entire property. We began in the mansion courtyard. Then, we moved to the iconic tree-lined path, a must for photos! On either side of this path are two gardens, on one side is an Italian sunken garden with a stone fountain, vine-wrapped trellis, and brick-lined archways. The photos we captured during this portion of Jennifer and Matt’s engagement session felt like we took a trip abroad!

When Jennifer and I discussed her vision for their engagement session, she envisioned there being flowers, and The Mount brought the vision to life! On the opposite side of the sunken garden was The Mounts, French Flower Garden. If you have ever seen the stunning gardens at Versailles, then you would LOVE The Mounts Flower Garden, as it is inspired by those gardens. The light, the flowers, and white stone-lined paths are a dream! To round out their session we finished on the veranda of The Mount. Which included a champagne toast that overlooked the whole property, as they toasted to their wedding day next year!

I may be biased but if you ask me about Jennifer and Matt’s session I am OBSESSED! Not only did we have a blast working together, but they are effortlessly chic (wait till you see the photos!). I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am for their wedding next July! Until then take a look at some of the images from their Spring Engagement Session at The Mount.
