Alexa play…This girl is on fire!

And her name is Maria! Maria reached about scheduling some much needed updated headshots for a BIG career move she just made! We started planning her session and I explained that headshots are valuable, but a full portrait session would suit her needs even more for what she wanted!

Maria explained that she takes her work very seriously, but she also loves to laugh and wanted to show her sense of humor in her photos!

Location was a big part of planning this session. Maria has a strong connection to Castleton University. Castleton is near where Maria grew up, and where she got her college degree. She gave me a tour around campus and shared fond memories from school and beyond. One story she shared that I loved was that the the big parking lot on campus, where we parked was where she learned to drive!

We kicked Maria’s session with a great playlist, I am not sure if we danced or took more photos? But we definitely had a great time on campus! Maria picked up beat confidence boosting music from such female power houses such as: Lizzo, Alicia Keys, and Meghan Trainor! With the theme song of her session Girl On Fire by Alicia Keys.

Confidence is something I love bringing out in the clients I work with. Being in front of the camera having your photo taken can make you feel awkward or uncomfortable. I even feel this as a photographer when I have my photo taken (someone tell me what to do with me hands, please!). But the process I take my clients through before a session helps me to get to know them, as well as ways I can bring out their inner confidence. Which in turns leads to some of their favorite and most photogenic photos!
